Does Your Home Have Plenty of Books?
Research shows that homes with 100 books help children develop two critical habits: 1) reading just about every day on their own, and 2) talking with others about reading. These two habits build positive connections around books and reading that can last a lifetime.
A home library doesn’t have to have hundreds of books in it. Every book can grow the child’s love of reading while also supporting school readiness. There are many inexpensive ways to fill our homes with books. Borrowing from the library, trading books with other families, and finding Little Free Libraries or Book Stands in the community are all free to build a home library.
