The Growing Readers & Developing Leaders (GRDL) program, supported with a five-year federal Native Youth Community Project grant, is gradually changing the reading habits of GRIC families by creating more than 100 local books and distributing them in innovative ways.

GRDL Literacy Campaign

The GRDL Literacy Campaign is blanketing each of the Gila River Indian Community’s seven districts with books. They are handing books out in schools, health clinics, community centers, and at annual events. They have established seven Little Free Libraries and recently added a new bookmobile.
